Aslynn Maurer, a student at Donna’s Dance Academy, in Sheridan, was recently selected to join Dance Team USA.
Instructor and owner of the academy, Donna Spielman said it is quite an honor
Spielman said that Maurer trains in ‘everything’, ballet, lyrical dance, contemporary, jazz, musical theater and hip hop.
With Team USA Maurer will compete in Jazz Dance. When asked what she liked best about dance, she had this to say.
She said this trip won’t be the first time she has traveled abroad, she has been on a school trip to Panama and Costa Rica. She added that she was looking forward to seeing Belgium. They will leave November 20, and the competition will be held over the Thanksgiving Holiday

Maurer said she enjoys lyrical dance the best, and Spielman explained what that entailed.
Aslynn’s mother, Andrea Maurer, added about the upcoming competition.
Maurer is a senior at Sheridan High School, and after graduation she plans to continue to pursue dance as well as study radiology.
All expenses for traveling to the competitions are the responsibly of the dancers and their families, and that can be costly. Anyone wishing to donate to Ashlynn’s travel and expenses can contact Donna’s Dance Academy at 307-672-0541. Any donations are appreciated.
