The Johnson County Commission and Road and Bridge Supervisor Scott Pehringer discussed the contract between the county and the Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) for the 2026 Congestion Mitigation Air Quality (CMAQ) dust abatement program for industry-impacted roads.

Pehringer said the county was awarded $311,376 and with the local 20% match of $77,844 the county will have $389,220 for the 2026 project.

He detailed where the county will be using the dust mitigation product.

Pehringer added that this marks the 20th year Johnson County has been involved in the CMAQ program, and was one of the original counties to participate along with Sheridan, Campbell, Crook, and Lincoln Counties.

This year there were 11 applicants, and eight were awarded funds.

The commission voted to accept the CMAQ contract.
