A Sheridan woman was arraigned on a felony theft charge Tuesday in Fourth Judicial District Court. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.

On June 19, 2025, the Sheridan Police Department received information that a former bar manager at the VFW on Broadway Street had allegedly stolen approximately $2,356 from the VFW between May 16-20 when she was still employed with the establishment. A subsequent investigation led to the arrest of Courtney McCalla. At an arraignment hearing Tuesday in District Court, McCalla pleaded not guilty to one count of felony theft. District Court Judge Ben Kirven said that a case management order with the dates for a two-day jury trial and a pretrial conference would be sent to legal counsel in the immediate future.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the theft occurred when McCalla, while bar manager at the VFW, allegedly kept money from gaming payouts, pocketed money from a silent auction that was held to benefit the VFW, and did not pay bills with money that was given to her to specifically to pay bills. McCalla’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Sheridan County Circuit Court. If convicted, McCalla faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

On January 24, 2025, a REDDI report led to the arrest of Sheanna Marsh for felony driving under the influence with a child passenger and misdemeanor driving without an Interlock device. According to court documents, a portable breathalyzer test administered to Marsh on scene on January 24 rendered a .35 blood alcohol content, which is over four times the legal limit.  At a hearing on July 24, Marsh pleaded guilty to the charges as part of a plea agreement that was reached with the State.

At sentencing Tuesday, District Court Judge Ben Kirven accepted the terms of the plea agreement, and sentenced Marsh to 2 ½ to 5 years in prison for the felony DUI charge, suspended in favor of five years of supervised probation, and 98 days in jail for the misdemeanor charge with credit for 98 days of time served of presentence confinement. Judge Kirven also ordered Marsh to pay $475 in court costs and assessments.
