The Buffalo City Council accepted a grant award from the Langston Family Foundation that is to be earmarked for playground equipment, according to Nanette Langston Meredith, with the Foundation.
The $3,500 grant is a portion of what it would take to build a sand volleyball area, according to Langston-Meredith, but she expects the foundation to be able to give another grant next year to make up the difference for what she thought would take $10,000 to build.
Although the Foundation would like to see the sand volleyball area built, she did say if the city thought the funds could be better used elsewhere for other playground upgrades, that would also be acceptable.
Mayor Shane Schrader said the council, Public Works, and Parks & Recreation would look into how to use the grant funds.
