Some Sheridan High School students are going to try to help put some cheer into what is normally a day of remembrance in US history.

Six members of the school’s cheerleading team will take part in the Pearl Harbor Memorial Parade on Sunday, December 7th, which has been going on in Waikiki, Hawaii every December 7th since 2012.

This past summer, the six cheerleaders earned All-American honors at a Universal Cheer Association camp.

With the honors came the choice to participate in one of several events around the world, and the six chose Pearl Harbor.

Lisa Keill who is the Head Coach of the Cheer Team, says this is a chance to show what Sheridan High School Cheerleading is all about.

“I want to show them just the dedication and commitment these kids have to cheer and then to each other, because I have a freshman, a sophomore, 3 juniors and a senior going, so I have every grade level representing in all kinds of different ability levels.”

Sunday’s parade is scheduled to begin at 9pm Mountain Time (6pm Hawaii Time) and Coach Keill says the Sheridan Cheerleaders will be a part of Team Bravo.

This year marks 80 years since Japan surrendered, effectively ending World War II.
