U.S. Senate Holds Hearing on Barrasso’s Bipartisan Making Parks Safer Act

U.S. Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) delivered remarks Tuesday at a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee hearing on the Making Parks Safer Act, bipartisan legislation introduced by Barrasso and Senators Angus King of Vermont, Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, and John Hickenlooper of Colorado that upgrades National Park Service 911 call centers.

Barrasso said the Making Parks Safer Act would equip National Park Service  9-11 call centers with next generation 9-11 technology, strengthening emergency response capabilities, supporting dispatch center operations, and enabling responders to receive text messages, images, and videos in addition to phone calls. The subcommittee hearing also featured testimony from National Park Service Associate Director for Park Planning, Facilities, and Lands Mike Caldwell.
