A sentencing hearing was held this week in Fourth Judicial District Court in Sheridan for a man who pleaded guilty to several crimes involving methamphetamine. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details.
District Court Judge Darci Phillips accepted the terms of the plea agreement reached between the defendant and the State, and sentenced 41-year-old Ryan Cooper to 3 to 5 years in prison for each count of two counts of endangering children for possessing and storing methamphetamine where children were present and 4 to 6 years in prison for felony methamphetamine possession, suspended in lieu of three years of supervised probation.
The prison sentences for the endangering children charges will run concurrent to one another, and the probation for the possession charge will run consecutive to the prison sentences, resulting in Cooper having to be on supervised probation for six years once he’s released from prison.
Judge Phillips ordered Cooper to pay $775 in court costs and assessments and said that he would receive credit for any time served of presentence confinement.
