Lake DeSmet Operations Manager Paul Mavrakis recently gave a year-end report on the lake to the Johnson County Commission, covering inspections, irrigation releases, monitoring, and many other topics.
He talked about inspections that happened this year.
Irrigation releases happened between July 3 and October 3, with roughly 10,000-acre feet of water released to 30 different water users with water stored in the lake.
Monitoring wells at the lake were monitored in the spring and fall and all is well with them.
Fifteen permits for temporary private docks were issued during the year with 13 deployed into the lake with two others permitted but not actually deployed into the lake.
Mavrakis wrapped by looking at what will be happening in the near future at the lake, and we’ll have more on that in an upcoming story.
