Governor Mark Gordon sent a letter to Wyoming Attorney General Keith Kautz Wednesday directing the AG to commence prosecution of the removal of Weston County Clerk Becky Hadlock from office. The Governor believes Clerk Hadlock has committed several acts of misconduct or malfeasance including her failure to appear for a legislative subpoena and her filing of a false audit report in conjunction with her duties as the Clerk of Weston County.
The Governor also noted in his letter the seriousness of this statutory duty saying that “election results are the foundation of our democratic republic and they must be respected both in the secure and fair way that they should be conducted and in the respect that must be given to the will of the people whose votes were cast.”
Secretary of State Chuck Gray issued a statement on Gordon’s recommendation to remove Clerk Hadlock’s from office.
On March 10, 2025, Secretary Gray sent an election code referral and request for removal of Clerk Hadlock to Governor Gordon that outlined Hadlock’s submittal of a false post-election audit with the Secretary of State’s Office following the 2024 General Election. Gray sent a second request for removal on December 1, 2025, after Gordon announced that Hadlock’s removal would be reconsidered.
