Kim Lodovici from the Sheridan County Assessor’s Office appeared alongside Commission Chair Christi Haswell and Commissioner Holly Jennings on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse to announce a deadline extension for the statewide homeowner exemption.
The statewide homeowner exemption, which reduces a qualifying primary residence’s fair market value by 25% on up to the first $1 million, was applied automatically in 2025. For 2026, homeowners must notify the Sheridan County Assessor’s Office that the property is their primary residence in order to receive the exemption.
The original deadline to apply for the exemption was Feb 2. Lodovici alerted the public that due to lack of applications, the state has extended that deadline.

Property tax exemptions approved by the Wyoming Legislature remain in effect for the 2026 tax year, but homeowners must take action to continue receiving some of those benefits.
Applications for all property tax programs opened Oct. 1. The deadline to apply for the 25% homeowner exemption is now March 1. The deadlines for both the 50% long-term homeowner exemption and the veteran exemption are May 26.
