While appearing on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program, Executive Board Member AARP Volunteer Clarence Montano invited listeners to make an impact in their community while also making new friends by joining the AARP Community Action Team.

The team is a group of Sheridan County residents that work to connect with Sheridan Region communities through fun meaningful activities that make an impact.

Activities can range from hosting free movie nights, golf, baseball and hockey events raising awareness for community causes to organizing large food drives to restock food pantries for many other organizations within the county, such as the Souper Bowl.

According to Montano, willing volunteers do not have to wait until they are 55 years of age. Anyone wanting to make an impact can be a member of the AARP Community Action Team.

Montano told listeners he joined because the group was active in the community, giving him something fun to do that served a greater purpose.

Clarence and his wife, Stella Montano –now the AARP of Wyoming State President– were honored in 2022 as the AARP Wyoming Community Action Volunteers of The Year.

The Downtown Sheridan Association is located at 121 S. Main St. in Sheridan.
