As a part of National Quilting Month in March, the Clearmont Women’s Club has, for many years been sewing and donating quilts throughout the Clearmont area. This year they held the quilting bee on Saturday, March 14. Due to the community center and library building being upgraded, they held the quilting bee in the Clearmont Community Church.

Clearmont Womens Club vice-president Joanie Kiser talks about what they do.

When asked how many quilts they are making this year, Kiser said,

Kiser also mentioned the quilt show that is going on during the month of March at the Clearmont Historical Center. She added,

The foster parent program, where many of these quilts go, provide care kits for children going into foster care to help support them as they make the transition. The kits include extra clothes, a blanket (or quilt) and pillowcase, a stuffed toy, books, and a hygiene kit.

In the past the Women’s Club quilts have also been donated to the homeless shelters and the Veteran’s homes.
