The Congregational church last night was filled to hear the Red Cross speakers. The Hon. W.S. Metz presided as chairman and was received with warm applause when he announced that within 24 hours after the Red Cross drive opened, Sheridan had gone over the top, raising a total of more than $25,700.
Fred W. Cooper, whose resignation as superintendent of the fish hatchery at Story was demanded because of derogatory remarks he allegedly made against the Red Cross, has issued a public apology, and declares he was drinking at the time he is accused of making the remarks.
J.L. Horton is in the city from the HF Bar ranch.
