Prompt action by the fire department at 7:30 this morning, together with the incombustible quality of the building, prevented the destruction of the Kutcher block at the northwest corner of Main and Works streets. The fire originated in the basement in a pile of pasteboard boxes, but how is not determined.

Fifteen below zero was recorded in Sheridan last night, according to the weather bureau reports. This was the coldest reported from any weather bureau station in Wyoming.

A carload of the finest grade of Kooi coal shipped from the Kooi mines was presented to the Salvation Army in Billings by Peter Kooi, president of the company.
