A 56-mile an hour gale struck Sheridan about 6 o’clock yesterday morning. The wind sent a big double chimney crashing through the roof of the house of F.H. Lasalle on Gladstone street, causing about $50 damage. In the business section of the city, several plate glass windows were broken, and many awnings were torn to shreds by the fury of the storm.
The women of Sheridan have an opportunity to show what position they will take upon a well-defined moral issue on election day, Nov. 2. If wide-open gambling is endorsed on that day, only one truthful report can be given of the woman vote: That they stayed at home and took no interest in clean government, or that they actually voted to endorse gambling.
