Mrs. W.P. Service sustained two broken hips in a runaway which occurred late yesterday afternoon near her home a short distance from Arvada. Mrs. Service was driving a single-horse buggy when the animal somehow slipped its bridle and began to run. Mrs. Service was thrown from the vehicle. She was brought to the state hospital in Sheridan last night for treatment.

In a letter to the school board today, Dr. Anna G. Hurd, who is the county health officer, has directed that the board require every pupil have a certificate of vaccination upon entering school on Nov. 1. The reason is the number of persons who have been exposed to smallpox in the city.

J.D. Loucks, the founder of Sheridan, is visiting relatives here. Mr. Loucks is now a resident of Port Orford, Ore.
