Joe Amil of Dietz is in the state hospital in serious condition, suffering from a fractured skull. He was struck by a brick thrown by another man during a quarrel between the two men over a dispute about room rent.

The recruiting office for National Guard Company D in Sheridan was closed today, and Lt. J.J. Field and Quartermaster Sgt. Jacob Markert departed for Cheyenne on Engine 42, accompanied by the recruits who joined during the week.

A handsome bronze drinking fountain was installed on the ground floor of the courthouse lobby today. The fountain is a memorial to the late William H. Veach, deputy sheriff who was killed in a battle with a horse thief.
