The big painting by Sheridan artist Gollings, titled “Turning the Herd,” was won by Paul Faulke, a traveling man from St. Joseph. The painting was raffled at the Elks carnival, and is valued at more than $200.
The eight-hour day for Sheridan policemen went into effect today. Under the schedule arranged by Chief Roberson, two men will be on duty from 4 a.m. until noon, three men from noon until 4 p.m., and five men from then until 4 a.m.
Gus Thompson bought a herd of 105 mixed cattle from Mel Snively, and 59 grain-fed calves from the Gabriel ranch yesterday.
