City and county offices, banks, schools and post offices were closed today in observance of Lincoln’s birthday. The weekly council meeting will be held tomorrow.

A rancher was in Sheridan this morning seeking to sell a load of baled straw to the city street department. He quoted a price of $12 per ton.

The matter of building a huge sign bearing a suitable city slogan has been suggested to M. Steele, secretary of the Sheridan Commercial club. It was pointed out that such a sign, located so it could be seen from all parts of the city and from the incoming trains, would result in a great deal of publicity for the city.
