The Sheridan County Commission has approved the application for the Freedom Ranch Conservation Design Subdivision after a lengthy discussion at the public meeting on the issue during their regular meeting Tuesday.
County Planner Mark Reid explained that Todd Grieg, with Freedom Ranch, LLC applied for a subdivision permit for a 73-acre property adjacent to Highway 14 and East Ridge Road to create a 20 residential lots and two conservation lots on a currently un-platted area east of Sheridan.
The residential lots would vary from a half-acre to one-and-a-half acres and the conservation lots would be 36.47 acres and 14.6 acres in the proposed subdivision.
A number of residents in the area, engineers, and others voiced their opinions during the public hearing, with most having concerns over septic systems, runoff with possible sediment and pollution in Prairie Dog Creek, and the affordability of the lots within the subdivision.
Commissioner Terry Cram spoke after the public hearing, saying the commissioners understand the concerns, but they have to rely on the experts in these matters.
The commission voted unanimously to approve the subdivision.
