The redistricting of the legislature of Wyoming has taken a step forward as it passed third reading in the Senate.
The bill passed third reading with a 60/30 plan and with Arvada, Clearmont and Sheridan County School District #3 set in House District 40, according to Sen. Dave Kinskey (R).
Sen. D. Kinskey (R)
Those who opposed and argued against the 60/30 plan feared the state could face legal challenges in the future should districts be out of deviation. Kinskey brought forth an amendment before the vote took place, outlining the reason the Senate passed the bill with some areas marginally outside of the desired deviation.

Kinskey’s amendment passed. The bill now goes back to the House for review during crossover. Should the House raise no objections to the plan, it will then go to Governor Mark Gordon’s desk. Should the House disagree with the Senate’s decision, a conference committee, assembled from members of both chambers, will then begin to seek a resolution.
