In a recent special board meeting, Johnson County School District #1 reviewed bids received for the new HVAC system replacement for Meadowlark Elementary School.
During discussions it was discovered that prices on materials had gone up substantially from the engineer’s estimate from 2019.
And there will be more funds needed for additional pieces of the project, according to Superintendent Charles Auzqui.
Auzqui explained that the district has $500,000 from Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief, or ESSER II Funding, with the remainder coming from the district’s Major Maintenance funds.
The board voted unanimously to accept the base bid for just over $767,000 from Powder River Heating and Air Conditioning.
