Buffalo Police Chief: Arrests Get Drugs Off Buffalo Streets

March 17, 2022

Buffalo Police Chief Sean Bissett gave a detailed report to the city council this week, touching on arrests, protections for officers and the public, and the status of the dispatch center.

He discussed a recent major arrest involving the police department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office that prevented drugs from being sold in the area.

Bissett said the department and the sheriff’s office have received 35 NarCan kits at no cost to the city or county, which contain a nasal spray that can reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

Police officers and sheriffs deputies have been trained on how to use the kits.

They have finished three interviews for another dispatch position that will become available in May.

He highlighted a recent incident where dispatchers Abby Wilson and Suzy Hulet did a “phenomenal job.”

Bissett said he wanted to give kudos to the dispatchers for a job well done because as the incident showed it can go from a cat in a tree to a plane crash in no time.
