The Johnson County Commission has temporarily lifted the hiring freeze at the request of county road & bridge supervisor Scott Pehringer.
Pehringer made the request and explained why he needed to hire another employee.
Johnson County has had a hiring freeze in place for a number of years due to reduced revenue and tighter budgets.
Each department head or elected official is required to officially make a request before the county commission for their approval to hire an employee.
