Buffalo City Council Candidates Chosen, Must Accept and Declare

August 22, 2022

Seven candidates ran write-in campaigns in last week’s primary election for two Buffalo City Council positions that will open at the end of this year.

Of those seven candidates, the top four receiving votes will move in to the general election in November, should they choose to accept the nomination, pay the necessary fees and file paperwork with the city and county.

According to the hand count late last week, the top four candidates, in order, are Myra Camino with 300 votes; Mike Madden with 188 votes; Jody Sauers with 158; and David Iverson with 152.

The remainder of candidates in order of finish were Jennifer G. Brothers, Greg Haas, and Gerald Spiering.

Should any of the top four decide not to accept the nomination, file and run, the next candidate of the three left out will get the opportunity to move up and accept.

As of Monday afternoon, the only candidate to file for the general election is Iverson.

Candidates have until Monday, August 29 to decide if they accept the nomination to run in the general election.

We will have updates as they become available.
