BPD Chief Discusses Mental Health Training

In his report to the Buffalo City Council, Police Chief Sean Bissett said there are some personnel that will be attending a Mental Health First Aid Training class and explained why that is important not only to the public but for law enforcement personnel as well.

Bissett said law enforcement has one of the highest suicide rates of professions in this country, and the training will help with what officers and dispatchers deal with on a daily basis.

Bissett said in August there were 3,609 calls that came into dispatch, with BPD responding to 1,184 of the calls.

There were seven arrests made during the month, four of which were DUIs.
