Senator Lummis Voices Objections To FWHA Greenhouse Gas Emissions Mandate

October 18, 2022

News – Sheridan Media

Wyoming Republican U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis has joined a number of other Senators in sending a letter to Federal Highway Administration Deputy Administrator Stephanie Pollack voicing their strong opposition to the agency’s proposal to implement a greenhouse gas emissions performance measure on state departments of transportation and metropolitan planning organizations, despite having no authority from Congress to do so.

Lummis says the mandate would make it impossible for states, such as Wyoming, to maintain and improve its infrastructure, and that people in the Cowboy State deserve new and improved roads without unnecessary government overreach.

The Transportation Departments of Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota and North Dakota have also submitted formal comments opposing the Administration’s Greenhouse Gas proposed rulemaking emphasizing that the agency lacks the authority to implement such rules.
