The Johnson County School Board has called a special meeting for Monday, December 19 to award the bid for the boiler replacement project at the Kaycee K-12 School.
The school has been dealing with the boiler problem for a little more than a year, since a problem with the sprinkler/boiler system was discovered that has led the district to replace the system.
According to the report to the board from the facilities manager, secondary heat in the eight classrooms at the school should have been completed by December 16.
A mandatory pre-bid meeting and walk-through for the boiler project with the engineer, architect, and contractors was held December 8, with three mechanical engineers in attendance.
The bid opening is scheduled for Monday at 2 p.m. with the bid award coming at the special meeting at 5:30 that evening in the District Administration Office.
