SPD advises caution

December 21, 2022

News – Sheridan Media

Chief of the Sheridan Police Department, Travis Koltiska, and Captain Tom Ringley recommended staying indoors and off the roads during the hazardous weather conditions.

Ringley suggested remaining inside and out of the cold unless absolutely necessary during an appearance on Sheridan Media’s Public Pulse program. The SPD Captain also advised the public to allow more experienced drivers behind the wheel during the course of the extreme weather conditions, citing safety concerns for the general public and his officers.

Koltiska suggested listeners ensure they have emergency rations and extra clothing in their vehicles should they be forced to go out onto the roads for any reason. But as a Sheridan native, the SPD Chief is confident that the public knows how to handle the extreme weather conditions and just advises caution.

Sheridan City Hall, the Sheridan County Courthouse and all four of the Sheridan County libraries have closed due to the extreme weather. City Hall and the Courthouse will reopen at noon on Dec. 23.
