Interstate 90 was closed for some time after a tanker trailer truck jackknifed on the highway and spilled its cargo.
According to the Sheridan Police Department, just before 7:30pm on Friday (January 27th), emergency crews were called to I-90 east near mile post 25, for a report of an overturned truck and trailer blocking both lanes of eastbound travel.
The trailer was compromised and was leaking a biodegradable non-toxic slurry into a barrow ditch of the off ramp at exit 25.
Eastbound traffic was diverted onto the off ramp so that all responders had a safe working area to clean up the mess.
No other hazards were in the area.
Fire crews had to use the jaws of life to disentangle the trailer from the truck.
It took several hours for a towing agency to get the truck back on its wheels, and placing the damaged trailer onto a flatbed trailer to be hauled away.
I-90 East was closed for almost 7 hours from the time of the wreck to the time cleanup was finished.
Road conditions at the time were slick and snow covered.
No injuries were reported, including the occupants of the truck.
