Residents who live in flood prone areas and/or along waterways need to pay attention to upcoming weather activity.

The National Weather Service in Billings, Montana has issued a flood watch for Sheridan County Wyoming, as well as a number of counties in southeast Montana.

The watch is in effect from 6pm Wednesday (May 10th) until 6am Saturday (May 13th).

A strong storm system is supposed to bring heavy rainfall to the area, with rainfall totals expected to be between two to three inches.

Heavy rain will cause rivers and streams to rise aggressively with flooding possible.

The Weather Service is forecasting 6-to-12 inches of snow will fall in areas above 8-thousand feet.

Montana cities and towns included in the flood watch area include Hardin, Ashland, Colstrip, Crow Agency, Lame Deer, Broadus, Forsyth and Miles City.
