Next Phase Of Downtown Sheridan Main Street Construction About To Start

July 4, 2023

News – Sheridan Media

Thanks to all the recent rain, the downtown Sheridan Main Street construction project is running at least one week behind schedule.

As a result, the next block of Main Street between Alger Street and Grinnell Plaza is scheduled to close on Wednesday, July 5th, instead of last week.

Businesses in that area view recent events as a blessing in disguise, because the stretch of roadway that their business is located on, was able to stay open through the 4th of July weekend and up through the 4th of July Holiday itself.

Erin Kranz is the manager of Urban Thrift and says there has been an impact on the area, since the construction started back in April.

She adds that her business, as well as many others, are doing what they can to draw business in.

“We have noticed that there has been a slow decline in what we would normally see, just because you can’t go through the whole street and I think as people are approaching North Main, they see the detour signs, they’re not as likely to come down to this area, so it’s important that we just let the community know we’re open, come visit us, come shop.”

East First Street, east of Main, recently reopened.

WYDOT says Dow Street on both sides of Main Street, as well as the Main and Dow Street intersection is scheduled to open on or before Monday, July 11th.

Main Street between Grinnell Plaza and Brundage Street was scheduled to close in early July, but that has been delayed, along with the re-opening of Main Street between Dow and Mandel Streets.
