The Johnson County School Board voted to approve the contract with Superintendent Charles Auzqui for another year with no changes in compensation, at his request.
During their recent regular meeting, Board Chairperson Jan Johnson told the board that according to the evaluation process, July is the month that the superintendent’s contract is negotiated.
Auzqui had asked Johnson to inform the board that he wanted his contract to remain the same for the following year, with no changes including salary.
Board members said they felt that with increases in the cost of living that they weren’t comfortable with not adjusting his salary, but would defer to the entire board’s decision.
Auzqui responded to the board’s comments.
Auzqui said he is grateful the board gave him a two year contract.
Johnson said the contract could be looked at and possibly modified next year.
