Short-term road work on a highway in the Big Horn Mountains is about to begin and plans are being drawn up for another.
WYDOT says a chip sealing project on a 9.7-mile section of US Highway 14A between mileposts 70 and 80 is scheduled to begin on Monday (July 24th).
The area includes the west-side seasonal closure gate and the turn-off road to Medicine Wheel.
Traffic delays of up to 20 minutes are expected.
The chip sealing is part of the $3.7 million pavement improvement project that was done last year.
Work is estimated to take at least five days.
Nearby on US Highway 14, a slide has been discovered at milepost 33.7, which is near the turnoff road to the Antelope Butte Ski Area.
A speed limit of 40 miles per hour is in place in the area and movement of the slide has slowed.
Geologists and engineers are assessing possible short-term and long-term repairs.
