Fire season is well underway, and a number of them on the Crow Indian Reservation this past weekend, served as a reminder.

On Friday (July 28th), fire crews responded to a human caused fire in a yard at the bottom of Soap Creek.

On Saturday afternoon Saturday about 2 p.m. the Ok-a-Beh Ridge lightning fire was held to 1 acre size near Fort Smith and the Snell ranch west of the Ok-a-Beh Road.

On Sunday, crews out of Crow and Pryor responded to three separate fires near Fort Smith.

One was northwest of St. Xavier, another was a hay bale fire near Camp Four in the Bighorn breaks.

About 3 acres of land burned in each of those instances.

The final one was on the west slope of Black Canyon, which ended up burning 1/4 acre.

Fire danger on the reservation is currently listed as moderate, but officials expect the danger to become very high in August.
