Sheridan will soon have more affordable and attainable housing for veterans in need and for those in the workforce.
Ground was broken on Thursday, August 31st, on the new 240-plus acre Story House Village, which will be located on 5th Street north of the Industrial Lane intersection, on Sheridan’s east side.
Sean Patrick Higgins is the CEO of Story House and says he got the inspiration from his father who was a Vietnam War Vet and spent the last 15 years of his life, living out of his station wagon in hotels and motels.
He then combined that with Sheridan’s housing situation.

“One dream sometimes hits a few hurdles and you have to dream a little bigger to get it done, so Story House Village became the body around that dream to protect that heartbeat and ended up being this 200 acre community with special emphasis on workforce and attainable housing.”
James Brown III is the Chief Creative Officer.
He explains more as to how the idea for Story House Village came about.

“It started from a film that Sean and I produced here in Sheridan about 4 years ago that led to a connection to veteran village which then kind of started to show us, the city really showed us the needs. It showed us the housing need, it showed us the veteran need, it showed us the need for more employment and so as we put our heads together and we started to get access to land, we started to get access to some of the major players in the city, we started to really formulate it and the more we dug in, the more it started to make sense.”
It is estimated that phase one of the project should be finished in about 2-to-3 years and it would take about 6-to-8 years for the entire project to be completed.
