Buffalo’s City Council discussed and approved a grant to purchase body-worn cameras for the Buffalo Police Department.
Police Chief Sean Bissett explained that the grant is for Small, Rural, and Tribal (SRT) law enforcement agencies.
He gave the council more details on the grant.
Bissett said policies concerning the body cameras have been written and approved by the city’s legal team.
According to bwctta.com, the SRT micro-grant program is funded by the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA).
The purpose is to provide funds and technical support to small, rural, and tribal agencies to implement body-worn cameras.
