City utilizes app to alert residents of snow route plowing this coming winter

News – Sheridan Media

City of Sheridan Streets Superintendent Mike Kuzara told Sheridan City Council the amount of snow Sheridan received last winter was nearly twice as much as a typical winter season. According to the City of Sheridan, City employees missed family events to serve the community this past winter ensuring roads were plowed and clear for traffic.

This led City leadership to begin a discussion to propose an ordinance that would allow the city to implement odd-even parking to clear snow more efficiently and effectively during the winter. This new plan for snow removal has since been adopted by the City.

This new plan would provide a straight, alternating route down city streets and would allow plow operators to reach more streets in less time as well as reducing the amount of fuel used by the City.

City Councilmembers Shawn Day and Terry Weitzel made an appearance to discuss the plan and the strategy to inform residents of the new changes.

The Everbridge Mobile App allows residents and visitors to receive public safety information based on their current location. Day said this application will allow City leadership to alert residents to snow alerts and which side of the street will need to be used for parking and how to get the app on your device.

The app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play.
