Johnson County’s Commissioners have approved the county’s participation in a Flood Plain Mapping project, at the request of County Planner Jim Waller.
Waller said the state is participating in a program designed to study flood plains in the state and explained further.
Waller said the benefit to Johnson County’s participation is gaining valuable information on the flood plain for county areas just outside of the city limits, and would set the area’s base flood elevation.
The project is fully funded through the Army Corps of Engineers with no cost to the county, according to Waller.
