The Sheridan County YMCA has developed an additional swim lesson schedule to accommodate busy Sheridan families.
Swim lessons can save lives. According to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention more children ages 1–4 die from drowning than any other cause of death.
Children can begin swim lessons at the Sheridan County YMCA as early as 6 months old. YMCA Executive Director Liz Cassiday said the organization took a social media survey to determine the scheduling needs of busy families in an effort to encourage more participation in swimming lessons.

The Y ultimately made the decision to schedule additional lessons on weekdays.

Cassiday said funds should never hold back a child from learning not only this critical skill, but participating in sports and other activities at the Y. Cassiday encourages the use of financial assistance and scholarships available at the Y. To learn more about scholarships, click here, and scroll to the bottom of the page.
