Johnson County’s Commissioners have accepted an Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the county and Summit Psychological Services for treatment of inmates at the Buffalo/Johnson County Detention Center.
Sheriff Rod Odenbach explained why he began looking for other mental health services for the jail.
Commissioner Bill Novotny said the county had originally contracted for these services through Northern Wyoming Mental Health, and then through Volunteers of America.
He asked why Odenbach was looking for outside mental health services, to which the sheriff said, “they have not been able to meet our needs in detention.”
After some discussion, the commission voted to accept the MOU with Summit Psychological Services for $1,000 per month.
