Sheridan’s City Treasurer S.D. Canfield reported on the condition of city finances yesterday.

He told the city council that the city received more than $194,000 for 1914, and disbursements totaled just under $161,000.

Sheridan police are on the lookout for thieves who broke into the residence of the Rev. Father Straetton the first of the week. The father was away on a sick call at the time. The thieves secured gold vessels and other articles valued at $500. The most valuable article taken was a chalice cup of beaten gold, which was an heirloom in the priest’s family and several hundred years old.

The city has purchased the barn of Dr. J.F. Spiker on Smith Street. The property has a frontage of 100 feet and is 160 feet deep. The barn will be used to stable the city’s horses and store machinery.
