The Clearmont Town Council met on Monday, August 19, at 6 p.m. at Clearmont Town Hall. Prior to the meeting was a public meeting, which drew a large crowd to discuss concerns the residents had about a proposed variance request for a septic tank and leach field on a plot of land on 1501 School Street owned by Dusty Boggs.

Mayor Chris Schock talked about the lot lease for 1710 Meade Avenue and the council approved to charge it on a month-by-month basis, beginning with a one-year minimum contract, with six months after the first year. They agreed to allow no sub-lease or no camper trailers, the dwelling has to be a mobile home.

Schock added that the waterline replacement project on Water Street is ‘moving along’ and he said if they have to shut off water to individuals it would not be for more than four hours. The project is expected to wrap up by the end of October.

Shock also mentioned an upcoming event.

Councilman Kaelan Haring talked about the new configuration of the Clear Creek Recreation District board,

Clerk Kirstie Auzqui, in her report, mentioned that the second reading of the utility rate ordinance will be at the Sept 16 meeting, and the primary election is tomorrow, Sept. 20, at town hall. She added that she is shopping local for the town’s supplies as much as possible, and it is saving the town money as well as helping local merchants.

She added,

Barry Crago, House District 40 representative and Senate District 22 Candidate who, along with Marilyn Connolly, House District 40 Candidate, attended the meeting, added this about Kinskey.

In new business, the council moved to table the variance request for the septic tank and leach field to the Sept 16 meeting and hold another public hearing on the matter at 5:30 preceding that meeting, as Boggs did have some other ideas that he could implement for the septic.

The upcoming Capital Facilities 1% tax wish list for Clearmont was discussed. Included was a new roof for the building in Branding Iron Park; making the town hall more handicap accessible; improvements on the streets and improvements on the town water system.

Also addressed were town hall closures, Labor Day, Sept. 2; and Auzqui personal leave on Sept. 6.
