Sheridan Man Changes Plea on Felony Voyeurism Charge

Pursuant to terms of a plea agreement reached with the State, Jason Wooton pleaded guilty to the charge of felony voyeurism for video recording an individual’s intimate areas without their consent on April 14, 2024. A misdemeanor charge of unlawful dissemination of intimate images was dropped as part of the plea deal. The State has agreed to cap its split-sentence recommendation of 180 days in jail and 3 to 5 years in prison, with the prison time suspended in favor of three years of supervised probation.

The plea agreement is non binding, meaning the Court can reject the agreement at sentencing and the defendant cannot withdraw their guilty plea. District Court Judge Darci Phillips ordered that a presentence investigation be completed by the Department of Corrections Division of Probation and Parole and scheduled sentencing for November 7 at 9 am. Wooton’s bond was continued under the same terms and conditions that were previously set in Circuit Court.
