Sheridan Community Land Trust wants to help women expand their playground and their comfort zone.

SCLT is seeking to teach the skills women may need to enjoy the Bighorn Mountains with a Discovery Session. Jody Sanborn will lead this two-part women’s backcountry skills/trail running Discovery Session.

This session is all inclusive and all paces are welcome: runners, joggers, walkers. All ability levels are also welcome, regardless of previous experience.

The objective is to empower, and offer a point of entry to anyone identifying as a woman who would like to increase their confidence and build skills to safely enjoy the backcountry while experiencing trail running. This Discovery Session will offer an opportunity for women in the community to connect with other women wanting to explore outdoor recreation/trail running. attendees will also learn tips for when they are in an area without cell phone service.

SCLT recommends comfortable shoes, water bottle or hydration pack, snacks, any other outdoor gear participants may have or wish to bring.

Session 1 will begin at 6 p.m. and run until 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30. Meet at Double Eagle Trailhead (Kendrick Municipal Golf Course).

SCLT will have a casual discussion where Jody will share her experience to help women feel empowered to confidently enjoy the backcountry, then proceed to Double Eagle Trail for a short trail run/walk/jog.

Session 2 will be held 6 – 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 21. Meet at Red Grade Trails Base Trailhead.

The session will practice what they have learned in Session 1 and enjoy a beautiful spring evening on the mountain as they run/walk/jog on SCLT’s Red Grade Trails.

Attending both sessions is strongly encouraged. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This Discovery Session is free to attend.
