Job And Payroll Numbers Increase In Sheridan County In Fourth Quarter 2024; Johnson County Job Numbers Drop

Fourth Quarter 2024 numbers from the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services show a slight job growth in the state compared to the same time in 2023.

The Research and Planning section of the Department, reports from fourth quarter 2023, to fourth quarter 2024, total employment in the Cowboy State increased 1,805 jobs, or 0.6%, and total payroll increased $194.8 million, or 4.5%

Employment rose in 12 of the state’s 23 counties, which included Sheridan County, but not Johnson County.

Sheridan County was up by 224 jobs, or 1.6%, while Johnson Counties’ job numbers were down by 23, or 0.7%.

The Department adds total payroll increased in 21 counties.

Sheridan County was up $10,470,492, or 5.1%, while Johnson County was up $2,689,003, or 6.3%. 

The Department says Sheridan County saw job gains in several sectors, including construction, local government, manufacturing, retail trade, and agriculture, but had job losses in accommodation and food services.

Campbell County lost 628 jobs, or 2.5%, mostly in mining as well as professional and technical services, but payroll was up $6.9 million or 1.6%.
