Those who will represent and promote the Sheridan WYO Rodeo next year have history on their side to fall back on.
At Wednesday night’s pageant (June 25th), Isabella Yellowtail was named Queen and Novalee Anderson was named Junior Princess.
Yellowtail has a history of pageant wins including being named the Sheridan WYO Rodeo Senior Princess 2 years ago, and is the 2021 Crow Fair Rodeo Queen.
She says winning rodeo pageant titles runs in the family, plus she wanted to raise the bar.
“I think it was just because a lot of my family have been past royalty. They had carried Crow Fair titles. A lot of my older sisters and a lot of my grandmas and a lot of my aunties had carried titles, so I just wanted to follow in their footsteps, but instead I took it a step further.”
Anderson says it was her family that motivated her to enter the competition.
“My grandma, she was rodeo queen when she was younger and she just inspired me to run it down in the family.”
Anderson is a soon-to-be 5th grader at Tongue River Elementary School, while Yellowtail is a 2023 TR graduate.
