Brook Mine Could Help Start A Mineral Revolution In The USA

What has been sitting in what is now the Brook Mine northwest of Sheridan for more than 50-million years, could help make the US less dependent on China.

In May 2023, Rare Earth Minerals were discovered at the Brook Mine, which included various metallic elements that can be used in modern technology.

Ramaco Resources Incorporated acquired the mine about 15 years ago.

CEO Randy Atkins says the mine has the potential to help usher in a mineral revolution.

“What we have discovered beneath this soil are enough Rare Earths, that we may be able to supply this country for well over the next 100 years. This one mine could not only supply a huge share of America’s critical mineral needs, but it could help break the untenable reliance that we now have on China.”

Atkins says his company estimates that Rare Earth Minerals inside the Brook Mine could supply the US Defense Department with up to 30% of its magnetic requirements.
