The University of Wyoming will host a field day Thursday, Aug. 7, at the James C. Hageman Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension Center (SAREC), located at 2753 State Highway 157 near Lingle.

The event is free and open to the public, and all ages are welcome.

The day begins with registration and refreshments at 8:30 a.m., followed by field tours at 9:30 a.m. During the tours and accompanying poster presentations, UW faculty, staff and students will share information about agricultural research projects from across the Cowboy State.

Topics include:

Carbon markets

Pulmonary hypertension in cattle

Resilient forage systems

Dry bean breeding

Wildfire and invasive grasses

Using drones to predict sugar beet yields

Attendees are encouraged to visit research posters and explore agricultural equipment displays at vendor booths throughout the day.

SAREC is co-hosting the event with Eastern Wyoming College (EWC). Three interns from EWC, who spent the summer supporting research and operations at the facility, will speak briefly about their experiences.

Lunch will be served at 11:45 a.m. From 1 to 3 p.m., local agricultural equipment dealers will conduct in-field demonstrations featuring new technology, including irrigation systems and drones equipped with ground-penetrating radar.

A guest speaker from ALA Engineering will demonstrate autonomous cattle-feeding technology and discuss the company’s work in self-driving systems and custom vehicles.

Attendees are encouraged to RSVP by contacting SAREC at kgreenwa@uwyo.edu or (307) 837-2000.
