Christine Dieterich, executive director of Habitat for Humanity of the Eastern Bighorns, has been appointed to the U.S. Council of Habitat for Humanity International.
According to a release, Dieterich will serve on the council’s Advocacy and Policy Committees, helping guide the national organization’s work across the United States.
She has led the Sheridan-based affiliate since 2015, following her own experience as a Habitat homeowner in 2011. That personal connection, Dieterich said, continues to fuel her commitment to Habitat’s mission.
During her tenure, the affiliate has grown significantly. Dieterich helped spearhead Weston Village — a 30-home subdivision that will expand access to permanently affordable housing in Sheridan County.
She also serves on the board of the Wyoming Housing Network, is an ambassador for the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, and is a past president of both the Rotary Club of Sheridan and its foundation.
Dieterich is the first Wyoming representative to be appointed to the U.S. Council.
“This appointment is a full-circle moment for me,” Dieterich said. “From receiving the keys to my Habitat home, to now helping shape the future of Habitat’s work nationwide, I’m filled with gratitude. I look forward to collaborating with other dedicated leaders who share the same commitment to housing equity, affordability, and opportunity.”
The U.S. Council was created by the Habitat for Humanity International board of directors to help shape the strategic growth of Habitat’s work in the United States.
The council’s role includes:
Supporting Habitat affiliates in advancing the organization’s mission and principles;
Serving as a voice for U.S. affiliates on national policy matters;
Advising HFHI leadership on U.S. program direction and priorities;
Empowering Habitat affiliates and related organizations across the country.
